Privacy Policy

Crosslate is a translation tool that compares several engines side by side. It has no server and no accounts, and it collects, stores and transmits no personal information. This policy explains how the app handles your data, and where your text goes when you translate.
1. We collect nothing
Crosslate collects no data. Specifically:
- No server. The developer runs no backend service, so there is no data that could reach the developer.
- No account. Using the app requires no registration and no sign-in.
- No analytics. The app includes no analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No device identifiers. The app does not read the advertising identifier (IDFA), the vendor identifier (IDFV), or anything else that could identify your device.
2. Where your text goes
Translating means handing your text to a translation engine, and that text is the only thing that leaves your device. It never passes through a server belonging to the developer — no such server exists. Where it goes depends on the service you choose.
Apple Translation
Handled by the translation framework built into iOS, either on your device or by Apple's services. What happens to the text there is determined by Apple and covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Services you configure yourself
DeepL, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Tencent Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Volcano Engine and others. These require your own API key. Text travels from your device straight to that provider, under your own account and quota, so that provider's privacy policy and retention rules apply. The developer is not a partner of these services and cannot see anything you send through them.
Google Translate
The app calls Google's public translation endpoint, which needs no API key and involves no account. When you enable this service, your text is sent to Google, and Google's privacy policy applies.
These requests contain only the text to be translated, the source and target languages you chose, and — when you use an AI service — the model and translation style you selected. They carry no device identifier and no user identifier.
3. API keys
The API keys you enter are stored in your device's Keychain, encrypted by iOS. A key is used only to make translation requests to the provider it belongs to. It is sent nowhere else, and the developer has no way to obtain it.
Removing a translation service, or deleting the app, removes the corresponding keys along with it.
4. Settings
Language preferences, translation service configuration, floating window appearance and other settings are kept in local storage on your device. They do not leave it and are shared with no one. Deleting the app clears them all.
5. Purchases
The Crosslate Pro purchase is handled by Apple's App Store. The developer never sees your payment details and has no way to learn your Apple Account. The only thing available to the developer is the aggregate sales reporting Apple provides through App Store Connect, which identifies no one.
6. Tracking and advertising
The app performs no tracking of any kind, never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission, shows no advertising, and uses no information for advertising or marketing.
7. Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
8. Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles data changes, this policy will be updated and the new date shown on this page.
